Bill Henson (b. 1955)

What does she know?
Often reproduced, this is a familiar Bill Henson portrait. It might even be one day seen as his Mona Lisa. A face like the moon rising from the centre of the frame – staring unflinchingly – and composed like a classical painting. For some, it’s scary. For others, a meditation.
