Information for Buyers

Bidding at an auction is an exhilarating experience filled with anticipation and adrenaline. The thrill of the competition, and the excitement of securing a rare find. Each bid is a strategic move, bringing you closer to owning something truly special. Whether it's a fine artwork, a unique collectible, or a coveted antique, the moment the hammer falls in your favor is pure satisfaction. Auctions aren’t just about purchasing—they’re about the chase, the passion, and the joy of winning.

No matter where you are, Shapiro Auctioneers offers multiple bidding options so you can choose the one that works best for you. No matter which bidding options you choose, a buyer’s premium of 25% of the hammer price including GST is payable on each successful bid.

Information for Buyers

Estimates, Reserves and Buyer's Premium

Each lot has an estimated price listed, excluding the Buyer’s Premium and GST (if applicable). Estimates are a guide and may change before the auction.

Some lots have a confidential reserve price—the minimum the seller will accept—which will never exceed the estimate.

Buyer’s Premium: 25% (incl. GST) on the hammer price.

GST: Applies where noted in the catalogue.
International buyers may be eligible for a GST refund with proof of export within 60 days.

Payment: Due within three working days via direct deposit, debit/credit card (surcharge applies), or cash (max. $10,000).

Condition of Lots

Viewing Auction allows you to inspect each lot before bidding. We encourage you to review items carefully, and our team is available to answer any questions.

All lots are sold ‘as is.’ We make no representations about the condition of any lot, and buyers should inspect items before purchase.

For those unable to attend a viewing, we may provide condition reports upon request. These are opinions, not guarantees. Requests for condition reports must be made in writing and are not available for lots estimated under $500 or for group lots.

Online images may not reflect actual colours or condition.
