surmounted by a patinated bronze of Eros and Psyche lying on a cloud, above the Arch of Heaven decorated with the Zodiac signs, rising from cloud formations surrounding the earth, the clock face framed by a sunburst, gilded dial with black Roman numerals, eight-day anchor escapement movement, raised on cast bronze feet of Aeolus blowing upwards to support a verd antique marble base

Pierre-Philippe Thomire was a sculptor and one of the most important French bronziers of the late 18th and early 19th Centuries. He was the main supplier of bronze for the French king and later the imperial palaces. Examples of Thomire works are found in important private and museum collections around the world, including the Louvre and the MET Museum.
